The Iota Chapter of Sigma Phi Omega was founded at Texas A&M University on May 2, 2009 when five young women took the step to bring a new sisterhood to the city of College Station. These Asian American women became part of the expansion of our sisterhood established at the University of Southern California in 1949. Marking our tenth year of committed dedication and successful growth, the Iota Chapter continues to find ways to operate as a unified sisterhood through academic excellence, elite membership, and preservation of our Asian American culture.
Our chapter is dedicated to the promotion of sisterhood and to the betterment of not only individual members, but of the sorority and the community as a whole. We participate consistently, as strong and dedicated leaders, in philanthropies in the Bryan/College Station area. We also work closely with other organizations within the Multicultural Greek Council and our fellow Aggies.
Sigma Phi Omega is also a member of one of the only Tri-Family in Texas, featuring our brother fraternity Omega Phi Gamma and our cousin fraternity Delta Epsilon Psi. Furthermore, as an active organization both on and off campus, we cooperate with many other organizations, both Greek and non-Greek in fundraisers, campus-wide events, and various mixers throughout the year.
